Ferry Boat, Part 2

by AmyD

But seriously, folks. She just can’t be dead. But didn’t I totally call it? She flatlined and went into the light to find Denny and Dylan waiting for her. She’ll be back. She has to be back, she’s the title character. It would be like killing Bill Cosby in The Cosby Show’s heyday. I know its a drama, and I know creator Shonda Rhimes killed off Denny and Dylan, but those were peripheral characters. If one of the interns goes, I’m worried about the show’s future, really I am. It’s not that I’m so attached to Meredith, I think it would just mean the show was trying too hard to mine for big drama when it didn’t need to. So she’ll be back. Unless I’m totally crazy. And there’s a chance of that. But, really, what would be the point. My guess is, they’ll do something crazy to bring her back - like put her on bypass to warm up her blood (I think I saw that on ER once). They may even tell Derek she’s gone, but she won’t be. She just can’t.

Other moments of interest:
Izzie got off probation after drilling through a guy’s skull and saving his life.
Mark earned maybe a point with me by talking her through it (albeit in front of the Chief) and by sitting down next Derek.
Alex told Addison he would notice if she went missing.
Christina said Meredith was her “person.” Loved that - remember from season 1?
Izzie told George that he made a mistake in marrying Callie.

I know there’s much more, but I want to hear what you think. Talk to me, people.

And if someone just has to die next week, maybe it’ll be Ellis or Sidney or Olivia.

Seriously? I’m with you 100%. I’ve thought all along that they were going to technically kill her and that’s how Denny was going to come back but she’s not dead for good. She’ll come back. But I’m also with you in that I guess it wouldn’t shock me if she doesn’t because we’ve all heard that this could “make or break the show” so who knows what Shonda has done. I don’t think she needs to die. Maybe in Season 7 or something but not now. The series is still fresh and young and it’s too early to kill of the title character.
Maybe they kill Ellis and since her relationship with Mer is such a big part of the show, that’s what will “make or break” it. Poor Mer’s been gone for like 20 minutes though. Is she going to have some sort of brain damage if/when she comes back?

  2. Holli Says:

Surely they haven’t killed Meredith. When she was in the water for almost the entire episode, though, I was beginning to think that she was definitely a goner. And did you see how blue she looked when Derek was carrying her out of the water? Scary. My fear is that she really is going to be dead but still a part of the show in some way, like Mary Alice is on Desperate Housewives. That would not be good for me. Although, the show does love the voiceover, so it could happen. I hope not, though.

And how can Burke not understand what Christina’s talking about? Meredith is her person. How can he turn that into something against him?? That bothered me.

  3. Meg Says:

I don’t think Meredith is going to stay dead, but if she does, the shows jumped the shark and they might as well hand in their resignation papers.

I’m still voting for Ellis, Olivia or Richard.

I think Izzy was over the line telling George that he shouldn’t have married Callie. That’s just something you don’t tell a friend, at least not if the relationship isn’t abusive and when the marriage is still brand new. I didn’t like that part.

Loved the “my person” thing too.

I wish that they had centered more on Derrick’s reaction to Meredith… he is such a great actor and it could have really shown his skills. The looks of sorrow that Addison gave Derrick should go down in history as one of the best tv moments, but you have to watch the show to really appreciate it.

Also? I’m hoping they develop the storyline between Alex and Addison more… I really think there could be something there…

  4. Hilary Says:

I came back to talk more about the show and not just Merideth.
I wish Cristina and Burke could have one happy episode. It’s not that Cristina needs Mer’s approval, it’s just that it doesn’t seem real until she’s been able to get the “congratulations” hug from her best friend, her person. But Burke is a man so he probably doesn’t understand that.
I really, really, really don’t want Alex to get to caught up with this pregnant Jane Doe. I want Alex with Addison, like yesterday. Addisex is too good of a name to go to waste on one freakin’ kiss. Now, on with it.
I know Izzie is just trying to be George’s friend but yeah, Callie is good to him and therefore, she needs to butt out. If she really loved George, she would accept Callie for him. She would love Callie because he loves Callie, if for not other reason.
I do however LOVE Rock Star Izzie.

  5. Bobbi Chukran Says:

I agree, they can’t kill her off, she’s the title character, for pete’s sake! I don’t watch much TV, but I have gotten addicted to GA, and I’d hate for it to be axed now! Shoot, they bring dead people back all the time on the soaps, don’t they? sheesh.

  6. James Says:

Killing bill cosby is a bad example ’cause he’s an actual person… BUT it is duly noted that the eponmyous and main character can’t die. anyway, they have to warm her up COMPLETELY until 95 degrees or so and the if she’s still dead then she would be pronounced dead.
