Sad News for Grey’s Anatomy Fans

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

110891_0529Well, as an avid fan of Grey’s Anatomy since day one, I am not surprised that this day has come, but I’m still so sad about it. The rumors are indeed true. TR Knight will not be returning as George O’Malley on Grey’s Anatomy.

We’ve all heard the rumors for most of last season that TR was very unhappy on the show. Insiders whispered that he was disappointed with his lack of screen. We all know about the ridiculousness of the Isaiah Washington incident and things seemed to go south from there. It was rumored that Knight and series creator/writer Shonda Rhimes didn’t get along and that’s why she put his character on the back burner.

As a result, Knight asked to be released from the final three years of his contract. Michael Ausiello at EW revealed today that the deal was finalized in the past day or two and TR has been released from his contract. Ausiello says Knight is mulling a return to Broadway in 2010 in Lend Me A Tenor.

No more George. Knight apparently turned down an offer to appear in 3 episodes next season. Many fans have wondered if the character of George would live on with another actor courtesy of Sloan’s plastic surgery. But Rhimes was quoted as saying that idea is “hilarious and ridiculous.” It looks as though we finally have some closure on this particular rumor mill.

I’m going to sorely miss George.

MerDer

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

mer_derFans of Grey’s Anatomy super couple Meredith and Derek, aka “Dark and Twisty” and “McDreamy” have been longsuffering over the past five seasons. The back and forth of their relationship has been at the heart of the show. There have been many, many complications over the years – Addison, the Vet, George, near drowning and most recently depression and quitting jobs. But through it all, the fans have still clamored for Meredith and Derek to end up together.

Last weeks’ episode gave MerDer fans a reason to rejoice. Finally, on the third try, Derek proposed to Meredith in the elevator in a romantic grand gesture. It was a much needed happy moment in an overall heavy episode. I was glad to see it. And Shonda Rhimes revealed at the party for the 100th episode that the May 7th milestone episode will take place on Meredith and Derek’s wedding day. But do they go through with it? I certainly hope this one doesn’t end like Cristina and Burke’s

What:s Coming Up Next

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

mer_derThis week’s Ask Ausiello is full of tidbits and scoop on what is in store for Grey’s Anatomy over the next several weeks. Enjoy!

Question: What is up with this supposed marriage that will take place at the end of the season on Grey’s Anatomy? I’m assuming that a Meredith and Derek wedding would be too rushed. –Dana
Ausiello: You know what they say about people who assume: They make an a out of ss and ume. I hear Der will finally propose to Mer in the March 26 episode titled “Elevator Love Letter” (gee, I wonder where he pops the question?), so, assuming she accepts, that gives the happy couple about seven weeks to pull something together. That’s more than enough time, no?

Question: Enough with the endless Twitter plugs. We get it, you’re twittering. Let’s move on. –Doug
Ausiello: I’m a step ahead of you, Doug. This week’s AA contains nary a single shout-out to the T-word. I’ll be the first to admit I went a little overboard last week.

Question: This is my first time asking a question, so, for the sake of a newbie’s sanity, could you please give a good Grey’s Anatomy spoiler on Cristina/Owen? –Sasha
Ausiello: Sorry, but the hazing section of the AA bylaws state that all virgin question-askers must be given an ugly, painful spoiler their first time out. With that in mind, remember me telling you that Owen’s PTSD would cause him to physically harm Cristina? Well, that little scratch last week wasn’t it. The violence I was referring to comes next week when Owen strangles the you-know-what out of her. Everyone join me in congratulating Sasha on getting her first AA question answered! You’re now eligible to join the AA frequent question-asker club. Click here for details on how you can earn points towards free hotel stays, a Macy’s shopping spree, complimentary upgrades on flights, and much, much more!

Question: How long will Izzie’s condition remain a secret on Grey’s Anatomy? –Tammy
Ausiello: Not long. Loose-lipped Cristina blabs all to Bailey and Alex right before she performs her first solo surgery. BTW, can anyone explain to me why on earth Izzie chose to confide in Cristina and not George? I mean, aside from the obvious: It would’ve required giving T.R. Knight something to do.

What’s wrong with Izzie?

Monday, March 9th, 2009

alexWe finally have an answer. So turn your head if you don’t want to know. As you recall, months ago news broke that Izzie would be diagnosed with a brain tumor this season. When point blank asked if this was true, series creator Shonda Rhimes said, “no.” Well, cut to months later when fans were left scratching their heads over the dead Denny’s return.

Now Justin Chambers, who plays Alex on the show, has told TV Guide Canada that Izzie has cancer. “Izzie has cancer, so I’m there to support her…I would expect Alex to shut down a little bit if something awful happens to Izzie, but these are opportunities to see his chivalrous side and his true love for her, so there should be some interesting stuff coming up.” I’m not surprised by this news at all. I think everyone guessed it would be cancer, an aneurysm or something of the sort. What remains to be seen is if Izzie will die from it. We all know Katherine Heigl wants off the show, but as of yet her departure hasn’t been confirmed.

So what do you think about this development? Does it forgive the weeks of having dead Denny around with no explanation?

More Scoop!

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

callieMichael Ausiello over at Entertainment Weekly is always good for some scoop and here’s his latest…

Question: Seriously, how much longer is Denny going to be around for on Grey’s? Love Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but it’s just not working for me. — Lauren
Ausiello: He’ll be around at least through March, since that’s when Izzie’s aneurysm-esque medical condition finally gets diagnosed.
Question: I am loving the new doc Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) on Grey’s Anatomy. Any news on whether they plan to keep her on? — Amy
Ausiello: They’re grooming her as a love interest for Callie, so I suspect she’ll be staying put for now. Speaking of which, look for Callie to seek advice from Addison about her feelings for Arizona in the Feb. 12 crossover episode.

Two Things: 1) I also love Jeffrey Dean Morgan, but this is starting to drag on too long. How about explaining what’s going on and showing the conflict of Izzie dealing with finding out she’s sick and Denny is a result of her illness? How about showing her having to choose to have surgery to repair her aneurysm which means she’ll lose Denny all over again? That kind of stuff is what I’m waiting for and I’m hoping it will be a big payoff. But in the meantime, we’re left to scratch our heads about why he’s there and it is frustrating.

2) I’m not really a fan of Arizona just yet. Maybe she’ll grow on me. But it seems to me that if they didn’t like Callie with Hahn that they would go a different route this time. I wonder if the Callie and Arizona thing doesn’t work out if Jessica Capshaw will be booted from the show, too. And how will they address the Sadie exit?

Rumors

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Well, there’s been a TON of chatter on the internet about the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy season. So let’s discuss.

Rumor has it Katherine Heigl’s Izzie will develop a brain tumor causing her to see (visions of ) Denny again. It’s also been rumored that the tumor will be fatal and is in retaliation for her remarks about not entering the Emmy race this year.

So what do we know for sure? Jeffery Dean Morgan aka audience favorite Denny will indeed be back. ABC boss Steve McPherson indicated at the TCAs that Katherine is staying on Grey’s and that she will have an “explosive storyline” this year. \

Hmm…. What do we think? As much as I love, love, love Denny, aren’t they kind of beating a very dead horse at this point? I suppose if it is done in a decent manner (maybe a dream this time) it will be ok. I guess we’ll see soon enough. Denny will appear in the season premiere on September 25.

Part Two

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

The second part of “Crash Into Me? will air on ABC tomorrow night after all! Yea! We heard last week that this second part and the episode following it would be held until 2008, but they decided to go ahead and show it tomorrow night. To recap the rumors out there, Bailey is going to have some kind of tragic crisis, and Bailey will also be doing the narration. Guest star Seth Green’s artery had exploded and it looks as though he might not make it. And Ava/Rebecca will return. Meredith tries to save the life of the paramedic trapped inside the ambulance. And much to Meredith and Derek fans, Nurse Rose will save the day in the OR, leading to…. Well, we’ll just see.

The Strike Drags On and Spoilers

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Well gang, it looks as though we won’t get to see that second part of “Crash Into Me? until NEXT YEAR. How disappointing. According to TV Guide, episode 11 of Grey’s Anatomy will air in January 2008. I honestly wish they hadn’t even shown the first part, but I guess they figured it was a good enough of a cliffhanger to keep us interested for the next several weeks.

In strike news, there are rumors that the end of strike is near. The two sides have been negotiating since Monday in a top secret location. There’s been a media blackout, so what little information that is out there has been leaked. Some are saying the strike will wrap up by the end of this week, and some are saying by the end of the year. The sooner the better. Maybe there is hope for this TV season yet!

And in Grey’s spoilery news – when the second part of “Crash Into Me? does air in January, Bailey will do the voice over instead of Meredith. Remember me saying I thought something bad was going to happen with Bailey and her family? Looks like that is true, according to Michael Ausiello. He says something bad will happen to her – “Not physically but emotionally.? My guess? Tucker leaves her or something happens to baby Tuck. I like that Bailey is the only one that has seemed to be able to have a personal life separate from her professional one and it will be disappointing if they can’t just work out the issues. I’m sure whatever goes down will give the awesome Chandra Wilson some great stuff to play, but seriously, can’t someone on the show find some balance and have a life?

Spoilers and Theories

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

I just read some interesting information on tomorrow night’s episode. The title is “Kung Fu Fighting.? Of course November is a sweeps month, which means this month’s episodes of Grey’s Anatomy should raise the bar. Sweeps months are used to help set advertising rates for shows. Remember to set those Tivos and DVRs for seven extra minutes because the show will be longer. So here’s the latest scoop I’ve rounded up across the web for you guys.

Tomorrow night two people will sleep together. These two people have never been “romantically linked before.? Oh and Meredith will catch them in the act.

We know from the preview tagged onto last week’s episode that George and Izzie will be hooking up, but who else could it be? Lexie and Mark? Cristina and Mark? Lexie and Derek? Mark and Dr. Hahn? (By the way, those two becoming an item is also a new rumor). And there is a theory that it might even be Alex and Lexie. Which I completely believed would happen until that scene where Alex told the other interns that George was a “repeater.? She looked disgusted, but hey, if we know anything about Alex, we know he repulses them first and charms them later. What do you think??

We know Joshua Jackson will be joining the show in January starting with Episode 11. Some of you think he’ll be Izzie’s new love interest, but what about Cristina? Or even Lexie? No matter which way it shakes out, I’m looking forward to having him on the show. Even though I didn’t watch Dawson’s Creek. I know, I know, how could I have not watched it? I don’t get it, either. Ha.

Casting Scoop

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Ready for it? Joshua Jackson known to many as Pacey on Dawson’s Creek will be joining Grey’s Anatomy for “several episodes? beginning with episode 11 this season. Word on the street is he’ll be playing a doctor. Hmm….wonder if the might be a love interest for someone? Perhaps Meredith? Because, meanwhile, much to the chagrin of Meredith and Derek fans, Derek will be getting a new potential love interest. Lauren Stamile of The WB’s Off Centre will have a major recurring role playing opposite Patrick Dempsey. No one knows for sure yet that she will be his love interest, but I’m guessing she will be.

So what do you think of all the guest stars, recurring roles and new characters this season? At first I wasn’t too sold on Edward Herman as Norman. I particularly didn’t like him working with Alex. But after last week’s episode and his fun interaction with Meredith, I hope he sticks around for quite a while. And I like Lexie. I like that Lexie and Derek are becoming friends (even if Meredith doesn’t like it). She’s the anti-Meredith – the bright and shiny Meredith - the Meredith that wasn’t rejected by her father and wasn’t raised by the harsh Ellis Grey. Lexie’s presence provides a good balance for the show. I’m very interested to see those two develop some kind of relationship. And it looks like Lexie and George will be friends. And of course Elizabeth Reaser comes back this week. I think most of us are very excited to see how her story plays out with Alex.

Thoughts?

Only Two Days!

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

The season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy is coming up this Thursday! It’s about time! I can’t wait to see how this season plays out, especially since I wasn’t too terribly thrilled with the last part of last season. But, I have faith in Shonda and company, and she has gone on record saying that this season will bring the fun back to Grey’s.

Also, don’t forget, Kate Walsh’s Private Practice debuts tomorrow night! Most everyone I know had serious doubts about that expanded Grey’s episode that served as the pilot. And unfortunately, I’ve heard that the first episode is a little much, but the good news is that the show supposedly gets better in the second episode. And if it doesn’t, Kate can always come back to Grey’s, as reportedly she wrote that into her contract should her show fail. So, tell me, how many of you are going to give Private Practice a chance? Or were you completely turned off by the pilot?

Now on to the good stuff. Here’s a bit of gossip I’ve picked up about the season. Stop reading right now if you don’t want to know!

• Meredith and Derek are broken up in the season premiere, BUT there is hope!

• Izzie’s interns hate her and think she’s a loser. Apparently she brings a deer into the hospital at one point for surgery. (??? Are they trying to make us hate her?)

• Callie gets zero respect as Chief Resident. Folks don’t take too kindly to her getting the job over Bailey.

• Producers are on the hunt for a big name star in her 30s to guest star in November for a recurring role.

• Oh and George says, “I love you, too? and it ain’t to Callie, folks.

Sizzling Scoop, Y’all!

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Fron TV Guide:

Question: Can you please give us Mer-Der fans some good news? Will they work this out? — Nicole
Ausiello: Well, after Shonda and I completed our little off-the-record Private Practice powwow, she did the unthinkable: She gave me some actual, honest-to-goodness, steaming-hot scoop concerning Grey’s embattled supercouple. “I want to be clear that Derek loves Meredith,” she said as if to put the debate to rest once and for all. “Derek loves Meredith more than anything and I can’t imagine Derek going anyplace else other than Meredith.” And as if to butter me up even more, Shonda handed me the biggest gift a Grey’s fan could ask for: a death certificate with Gizzie’s name on it. “A lot of people aren’t sold on Izzie and George,” she acknowledged. “I think the mistake that everyone makes is that we are telling you Izzie and George are the love story of the century; they’re not the love story of the century. And when other people find out about Izzie and George — remember, people don’t know about them yet — other people might think that’s not a good idea either.”

Question: Any scoop on Grey’s? — Taylore
Ausiello: I caught up with James Pickens Jr. on the red carpet and he teased that there will be some drama surrounding the Chief’s living situation (i.e., you won’t believe who’s moving in next door).

I can’t wait for next week!!

New spoilers!

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Woo hoo! The new season is upon us and here’s some new scoop!

Rachel in Taylorsville, North Carolina: I heard a rumor that George will be one of Meredith’s interns on Grey’s Anatomy. Can you confirm that?
Yes. And Lexie (Meredith’s sister) is one of Cristina’s. I’m also hearing that Cristina ends up going on her honeymoon anyway, without Burke—and takes a very special friend with her. (I’ll give you one guess.)

More scoop!

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

As always, turn your eyes away if you don’t want to know!

From Mike at TV Guide:

Question: Do you have any good Grey’s Anatomy scoop?— Helen
Ausiello: Since Burke’s never coming back, Shonda Rhimes went and got the next best thing: his mama! Yep, Diahann Carroll’s returning in this season’s second episode when she shows up at Seattle Grace to get that choker back from Cristina. Needless to say, her return is shocking — and potentially clarifying — for Yang. It’s also funny as hell. In fact, I hear the entire episode is high-sterical. There’s also apparently some great stuff with Chandra Wilson as Bailey struggles with no longer being the boss lady.
Question: There’s a rumor going around that there’s a big Mer-Der sex scene set in a shower in Grey’s third episode. True?— Danny
Ausiello: False… although the word “bathroom” is uttered at least once in the episode.
Question: Have you heard anything about Edward Herrmann’s character on Grey’s Anatomy?— Siobhan
Ausiello: I hear Grandpa Gilmore’s playing the world’s oldest intern.

Ok, I LOVE that Mama is coming back and I also love that Ed will be an intern! YEA!

Rumor Control

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

All you TR Knight fans can breathe easier. Rumors have swirled that TR only signed on for 12 episodes this season. Not true, according to E! I have a feeling he’ll stay put - who wouldn’t with that salary hike?
