“A Change Is Gonna Come”

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Ok, gang, let’s discuss! What did you think? Instead of a full on recap, I’ll give you a few of my thoughts and you do the same, ok?

- It is so not over for MerDer just yet. I loved Derek telling off Mark in the OR. Those two will eventually work it out.
- I loved the lighter tone of the show. It reminded me of the early days when everything wasn’t such a downer.
- Our little interns are now residents and they have no idea how to manage their own interns. Of course Meredith would get George as an intern.
- Lexie is pretty much the anti-Meredith. The non-dark and twisty Meredith. I actually kind of like her. And it looks like she’ll have a fun friendship with George.
- Speaking of George - what a funk he’s in. But, he told Izzie he loved her. So, I think once he breaks up with Callie, things will promptly fall apart with Izzie. They just don’t work.
- Izzie saved a deer’s life. But you know what? That’s just who she is - the quintessential dreamer/believer and you really can’t fault her for that. Someone’s gotta believe you know?
- Alex drove up in Rebecca’s “general direction” but apparently didn’t see her? And please shave, seriously.
- Bailey - I love her. Just love her. She’s still pissed she isn’t Chief Resident, but I think she finally got why the Chief didn’t give her the job.
- Are they ever going to make McSteamy likable? I’m just saying.
- And Christina misses Burke. I kind of do, too.

“Treading Water”

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

USA Today has an excellent article on Grey’s Anatomy. It is a bit spoilerish, but mostly it has a few fun quotes from the actors. Check it out.

Only Two Days!

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

The season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy is coming up this Thursday! It’s about time! I can’t wait to see how this season plays out, especially since I wasn’t too terribly thrilled with the last part of last season. But, I have faith in Shonda and company, and she has gone on record saying that this season will bring the fun back to Grey’s.

Also, don’t forget, Kate Walsh’s Private Practice debuts tomorrow night! Most everyone I know had serious doubts about that expanded Grey’s episode that served as the pilot. And unfortunately, I’ve heard that the first episode is a little much, but the good news is that the show supposedly gets better in the second episode. And if it doesn’t, Kate can always come back to Grey’s, as reportedly she wrote that into her contract should her show fail. So, tell me, how many of you are going to give Private Practice a chance? Or were you completely turned off by the pilot?

Now on to the good stuff. Here’s a bit of gossip I’ve picked up about the season. Stop reading right now if you don’t want to know!

• Meredith and Derek are broken up in the season premiere, BUT there is hope!

• Izzie’s interns hate her and think she’s a loser. Apparently she brings a deer into the hospital at one point for surgery. (??? Are they trying to make us hate her?)

• Callie gets zero respect as Chief Resident. Folks don’t take too kindly to her getting the job over Bailey.

• Producers are on the hunt for a big name star in her 30s to guest star in November for a recurring role.

• Oh and George says, “I love you, too” and it ain’t to Callie, folks.

Sizzling Scoop, Y’all!

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Fron TV Guide:

Question: Can you please give us Mer-Der fans some good news? Will they work this out? — Nicole
Ausiello: Well, after Shonda and I completed our little off-the-record Private Practice powwow, she did the unthinkable: She gave me some actual, honest-to-goodness, steaming-hot scoop concerning Grey’s embattled supercouple. “I want to be clear that Derek loves Meredith,” she said as if to put the debate to rest once and for all. “Derek loves Meredith more than anything and I can’t imagine Derek going anyplace else other than Meredith.” And as if to butter me up even more, Shonda handed me the biggest gift a Grey’s fan could ask for: a death certificate with Gizzie’s name on it. “A lot of people aren’t sold on Izzie and George,” she acknowledged. “I think the mistake that everyone makes is that we are telling you Izzie and George are the love story of the century; they’re not the love story of the century. And when other people find out about Izzie and George — remember, people don’t know about them yet — other people might think that’s not a good idea either.”

Question: Any scoop on Grey’s? — Taylore
Ausiello: I caught up with James Pickens Jr. on the red carpet and he teased that there will be some drama surrounding the Chief’s living situation (i.e., you won’t believe who’s moving in next door).

I can’t wait for next week!!

Congrats Katherine Heigl (That’s Hi-gull, not Hi-juhl)

Monday, September 17th, 2007

WOW! Color me surprised (but happy)! Katherine Heigl picked up a win for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama at the Emmy’s last night. I loved her speech - it was heartfelt and funny. The funniest moment came before her big win when she presented an award with Kyle Chandler and they said her name wrong. Walking up to the mic, she immediately corrected them. When they announced her name (correctly) for winning, she looked at her mother and said, “sh–” causing the telecast to bleep the sound out for a moment. Her Grey’s family stood and clapped for her and fellow nominee Chandra Wilson blew her kisses during her speech. Too cute. Congratulations!

In other Emmy news - Patrick Dempsey looked very, very nice.

Unfortunately, Kate Walsh rocked a great dress, but instead of her normal hair, she brought along a red ferret that tried desperately to escape from her ear.

And Ellen Pompeo also suffered the wrath of a bad stylist trying to make a statement. Sandra Oh looked great, though.

Chandra Wilson looked fierce. (I’m assuming this is her husband, but I couldn’t confirm it).

TR Knight gave BFF Katie a nice big hug before she accepted her Emmy.

Sara Ramirez was pretty in pink. (I know, cue eye rolls for stupid joke).

Eric Dane attended along with his wife Rebecca Gayheart. Here’s TR fixing his tie.

And of course creator Shonda Rhimes was in the house.

And yes, James Pickens was there, too, but I didn’t find a picture.

New spoilers!

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Woo hoo! The new season is upon us and here’s some new scoop!

Rachel in Taylorsville, North Carolina: I heard a rumor that George will be one of Meredith’s interns on Grey’s Anatomy. Can you confirm that?
Yes. And Lexie (Meredith’s sister) is one of Cristina’s. I’m also hearing that Cristina ends up going on her honeymoon anyway, without Burke—and takes a very special friend with her. (I’ll give you one guess.)

New Soundtrack

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

One of my favorite things about Grey’s Anatomy is the music. They always manage to match the perfect song with the perfect scene. I’ve become a huge Anna Nalick and Jem fan since hearing them first on the show. Next Tuesday, September 11, the third Grey’s soundtrack will drop. Here’s the tracklisting:

“Young Folks” - Peter Bjorn & John
“Again & Again” - The Bird And The Bee
“Something In The Water” - The Jealous Girlfriends
“Sealion Woman” - Feist
“A Cold Wind Will Blow Through Your Door” - Bill Ricchini
“Falling Or Flying” - Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
“Come To Me” - Koop
“Running On Sunshine” - Jesus Jackson
“Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That” - Robert Randolph
“Million Faces” - Paolo Nutini
“Breathe In Breathe Out” - Mat Kearney
“Moon And Sun” - Gomez
“Sun Comes Up” - John Legend
“Keep Breathing” - Ingrid Michaelson
“The Story” - Brandi Carlile

If you buy it on iTunes, you’ll get these bonus tracks:
“The Great Escape” - Patrick Watson
“Black Cat John Brown” - Alamo Race Track

Or, if you don’t own the first two soundtracks, you can buy all three in a boxed set. Pretty cool.
