Another Spin-Off Cast Member

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

As if the recent cast of the special two-hour Grey’s wasn’t already big enough, another cast member has been announced. Any Judging Amy fans? It seems like we’re finally hearing about another lady joining the crew–Amy Brenneman. You might also remember her from NYPD Blue, Daylight, and Heat. There’s no word yet as to which cast members in particular will become part of the spin off. Grey’s Anatomy is keeping this one a secret!

Who’s Your Favorite Grey’s Character?

Sunday, March 11th, 2007

Hey all! Amy’s dealing with a death in the family, so I’m pinch-writing for a few days. My name’s Allison, and you may know me from some other 451 Press sites. I’m the writer for Reality on Bravo and Find Religion.

Just to give you a little GA-background about me: I didn’t watch a single episode while Grey’s was in its first season, but some friends were having a party for the second season premier, so I decide to attend. I was immediately HOOKED! Since then, I’ve caught up with the first season and haven’t missed an episode since the bomb episodes.

My personal favorite character has got to be Izzie. Her Denny storyline was amazing and she always has the best monologues. I find more of myself in Christine, actually, but Izzie is the type of person I usually strive to be. She’s funny, sensitive, and gives great advice (well, to everyone but herself!). I’m really excited to see how the George/Callie/Izzie mess will play out!

I’m sure Amy would love to come back to a million comments, so tell me, readers: Who is your favorite character and why?

Kate Walsh is rocking the free world

Friday, March 9th, 2007

Kate Walsh is just all over the news these days. She’s on the cover of the spring edition of O at Home Magazine. Inside she shows off her lovely home and quips, “I feel like I just married myself” after her purchase of good China.

kate_o_at_home_cover.jpg

She’s also busy telling the press that Katherine Heigl is “super-talented” and “professional.” (I love that she’s always commenting on how great the cast is.)

And more spin off news — People is reporting that Wings alum Tim Daly will also be in the two hour episode of Grey’s Anatomy that will serve as the pilot for Kate’s spin off. Somewhere Crystal Bernard is shaking her head and screaming at her agent.

And if any of you are Prison Break fans, Paul Adelstein, who plays Paul Kellerman on PB will also be in the episode. And we already know that Taye Diggs will also be in the episode. And TV Guide reported late yesterday that Chris Lowell (currently “Piz” on Veronica Mars) has also been cast in the pilot for the spin off. The news was posted then removed, so who knows. I’m wondering if Addison will be getting a job offer at an all male hospital? Seriously, what’s the deal with all the guys? (And I am NOT complaining!)

Whew, that’s a lot of news.

Another rerun week (sigh)

Thursday, March 8th, 2007

But what’s coming up, you ask? SPOILERS AHEAD, y’all.

According to Kristin at E!:

Will Loretta Devine be making any more appearances on Grey’s before the season is over? I won’t accept that this is the end of the road for the chief and his Adele. Especially now since Ellis is dead!
I totally just ran into the divine Loretta Devine at the Independent Spirit Awards and asked her if she’d be back on Grey’s after slamming the door in the chief’s face. She said, “I hope so…like the chief wasn’t cheating! They don’t let you know ahead of time what’s going to happen, but I hope she comes back.”

Grey’s Anatomy! Who’s going to hook up?
Addison and McSteamy. And Izzie and…oh, I can’t tell you that! I might be wanting to die today, but on most other days I do like my life.

Kristin also says Callie’s big secret will shock George and that Callie O’Malley has something in common with Paris Hilton, but it isn’t a sex tape. Hmmm….. guesses?

And from Mike at TV Guide:

Question: Will Addison and Alex ever really get together? The suspense is killing me.— Erin
Ausiello: It looks like Addisex has become a casualty of Kate Walsh’s forthcoming spin-off. More on that next week.
Question: Any scoop on what’s coming up on Grey’s?— Robin
Ausiello: Denny’s returning! Again! Sort of! Jeffrey Dean Morgan has signed on to host the latest Grey’s clip show in April.
Question: How many more episodes of Grey’s Anatomy are there left this season?— Mark
Ausiello: Including the one additional episode ABC just ordered (more on that in my vodcast) and the two hours earmarked for the spin-off, we’ve got a total of eight hours left.

It’s all about the Benjamins, baby

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

So what exactly were the repercussions of Isaiah Washington’s recent bad behavior? Let’s see, there was a trip to rehab and what else? During his acceptance speech at the 38th Annual NAACP Awards over the weekend, he said last year when he won he felt deserving, but this year he was just grateful to be there at all. So maybe he really has changed his tune. I hope for the sake of the rest of the cast he has. And besides, I want to see what’s next for Burke.

But, it does appear that he’s getting the proverbial wrist slap from the network in the form of less cash than his castmates. Sources are claiming that, “Isaiah knows it is his fault that he may not get the fat raise he was going to get. ABC doesn’t have to give him anything - he is under contract for seven years - and this is going to cost him millions. It’s just a bitter pill he is going to have to swallow.”

Hmm…. this sounds about right. I’m sure we’ll continue to hear all kinds of rumors on contract renegotiations for the next few weeks. I’ll be glad when all that off screen drama is over with!

How cute are these two?

Monday, March 5th, 2007

Rumors have been spreading since late February that Kate Walsh and Brothers and Sisters star Dave Annable are dating. The pair were spotted at an InStyle party on Feb. 23 looking all cozy. And they appear in a photo in the new issue of People Magazine (the one with Daddy Patrick Dempsey and his twins on the cover). In that picture, he has his arm around her at an Oscar Party. Too bad I had no luck finding that one online, but here’s the first picture I mentioned. For all we know they may just be pals, but I think they’re super cute together and hopefully this will put to rest the rumors that Dave is dating his on screen mother Sally Field. (Yes, you read that right).

Katherine Heigl’s Statement

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

Wow. Katherine Heigl decided to respond publicly to this week’s contract drama. Here’s what she had to say:

“I am embarrassed that this has become a public matter and disappointed that Touchstone felt it necessary to divulge private employment information. I had hoped I would be able to deal with this issue confidentially with my bosses. I dropped out of the renegotiation simply because I wanted to treat myself with the respect I was not getting from them. No matter how unhappy I am about their decision to respond to this publicly, I continue to be passionate about and committed to this character.

Bottom line is this - Katie should be treated as well as the other supporting players on the show. If she isn’t, then I don’t blame her for getting upset. She is still contracted for three more seasons of the show and if she were to leave, she would owe Touchstone lots of money. So go ahead and grab that Snickers, she’s not going anywhere for a while.

Cutest. Picture. Ever. Patrick Dempsey shows People Magazine his twin boys. Too cute!

Izzie’s staying!

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

It turns out all that crap yesterday about Katherine Heigl leaving contract talks was just that - crap. ABC says it isn’t true and Izzie ain’t going anywhere. Here’s their statement:

“Katherine is an integral part of Grey’s Anatomy and its success. Fortunately, we have a long-term contract to ensure she’ll be with the show for several years to come. In recognition of her tremendous talent and value to the show, we recently approached Katherine with an offer to raise her compensation significantly above the terms of her current contract. We were surprised to see this gesture reported negatively in the press, and want to reassure fans that she will continue as Izzie Stevens.”

Yea! I know everyone’s irritated wtih Izzie lately, but I think she’s one of the more interesting characters on the show. I’m glad this is resolved.

Pretty Pictures

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

The cast of Grey’s Anatomy is still out on the town, living it up. Some of the gang even showed up at Vanity Fair’s Oscar bash on Sunday. And Katherine Heigl took her turn on the catwalk for GM’s 10 Show - Eric Dane and wife Rebecca Gayheart were in attendance cheering her on. These pictures are too cute. Enjoy!
