What’s going on?

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

I’m about to discuss an upcoming plot point that I think is fairly obvious and well known, but if you’re a spoiler-phobe, look away now.

So, I always make a point to read the writer’s blog for Grey’s Anatomy. I was very surprised to learn that this past episode was written by Shonda Rhimes. Now, y’all know I’m a big Shonda fan, but I think last week’s episode was subpar. In her blog she talks about how difficult it was for her to write the episode and how the director started shooting without a script. Maybe this explains it. And she drops a hint that a major character is going to die. The way its written, we’re supposed to believe its Meredith. But I don’t think I buy it. Do you? Kristin at E! keeps saying that the death will be very shocking and you’ll never believe they would do it.

So who’s kicking it, gang? Burke would be the obvious choice, but he’s not in danger - not yet. (And yes, I like his character but have a hard time watching without thinking what a tool he is in real life). What about McDreamy? Chances are he’s jumping in there after Meredith. That would certainly be shocking.

Do you see the point in killing a character? I really don’t. There’s enough drama without offing someone else. This ain’t Lost, after all.

Check out Shonda’s post.

The hype

To believe or not believe??

Rumors are floating that Jeffrey Dean Morgan aka Denny will make a return to the show this season. Obviously, if he does, it would have to be a dream or flashback or something. As much as I loved Denny, I think this might be a mistake. Isn’t it time for Izzie to move on and get a new storyline?? Here’s a thought - if you love a character and can’t let go of him, then don’t kill him! I personally would have been more interested in seeing Denny and Izzie try to make a quickie marriage work over George and Callie. (I’m just saying!)

What do you think? Are you excited he’s coming back or do you think its a stupid trick?

Ferry Boat, Part One

Friday, February 9th, 2007

I don’t know if it was the ticker tape parade marching through my sinuses while I watched this episode, or if it actually was a bit disappointing. (Please let me know which in the comments). The episode sort of smacked of vintage George Clooney ER days. And by the way, I LOVED those early seasons of ER. And I know its sweeps and big, dramatic “Very Special Episodes” are supposed to take place. Something was just missing to me. Maybe it was a bit slow since this is only the set up for two more ferry boat centered episodes. So let’s discuss a few things…

Addison - seriously, put her in the show more. I LOVED the scene in the elevator when she told the guys to back off about the Chief’s hair. And she called Mark a Man Whore. Hmm… wonder if the writers read this here blog? ha! I also loved the interaction with her and the Chief at the board when they talked about moving on. Those two are always good in scenes together.

Burktina. Yeah, whatever. They are engaged, but Yang asks him not tell Derek until she tells Meredith. But Burke does it anyway. Can these two stay happy for three seconds?

The McNewlyweds are having some trouble adjusting to being married and working together - with one as an upper level resident and one as an intern. Rut roh. Apparently this is why nepotism is never good.

Alex is stepping up, y’all. He really is. He’s showing compassion and concern for his patients, while keeping just the right amount of attitude. When Addison overheard him talking to Jane Doe and let out that big sigh, I thought we’d end again with her with McManWhore working out those frustrations, but we didn’t. Thankfully. Oh and Alex’s black wife beater tee made another appearance, and all the ladies say??? yeah, that’s what I thought.

Izzie spent the entire episode trying to help a trapped patient with no other help. This got frustrating to me very quick. I know in real life this would very likely happen, but on the small screen it is boring to see the same scene 5 times. And the preview for next week with the drill? Seriously???

And Meredith. Poor Meredith who is still so distraught with Mama Drama that she just sinks into that bathtub. I keep waiting for her to pull a Sylvia Plath anytime now. But the biggest SERIOUSLY that I literally shouted at my TV had to be when she plunged into the water.

There’s no WAY they would kill her off. Right? RIGHT?? It’s just not possible. If they do, consider the shark jumped, rode, surfed on, chopped up and fried, people. So there’s no way.

Right?

Cutest McCouple

Monday, February 5th, 2007

I’ve said it numerous times on here, but here it goes again, I love Katherine Heigl (not like I love McDreamy, but you know what I mean). She just seems like a cool chick to me. Like someone you’d actually hang out with. And I LOVE her soon to be husband, singer/songwriter Josh Kelley, too. These two are super cute together. Here are some pics of them out for lunch recently in LA. Apparently they both fired up the cigarettes, which was surprising to me. Anyway, check ‘em out. They’ll make your teeth hurt.

You’re toxic, I’m slipping under

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

Loved this one guys, what about you? Of course I say that about pretty much every one of them, don’t I? Let’s recap –

“Dude, she’s Callie O’Malley!” WOW. So George and Callie ran right off to Vegas and got married. Big mistake. I don’t think this one is going to last folks. Do you? They just don’t seem right together to me. And did they really think there wouldn’t be teasing and jokes? Callie was too sensitive. And if George was my pal, I’d have questioned him just like Izzie did. That’s what friends do - they look out for each other. But that, “So is the little Missus moving in” comment was funny. But it gave George a chance to stand up for Callie, which is what she wanted all along. Keep ‘em coming, Izzie, I love the humor. Oh and Christina calling him Bambi?? Priceless.

The free clinic opened up and here’s a real world question for you - would a hospital let a surgery resident just put aside her normal job to do this? Anyway, Izzie seemed to think that this project was going to make her feel better, but so far no luck. Any storyline with Bailey is a good one, though, and I loved her speech to the young girl.

Meredith’s mom Ellis woke up lucid and raising hell. Any scene she was in was hard to watch. I have to say, I think Ellen Pompeo did some of her best acting last night. Ellis was brutal to Meredith and of course she was loving on Christina. Christina asked her if she could be a brilliant surgeon and have a life. Ellis told her she could if she just worked hard for both. How brutal was Ellis when she said she was disappointed that Meredith was happy and becoming soft. Ouch. No wonder the girl has tequila issues.

Addison, Addison, Addison. She spent the whole episode practically salivating over Alex only to end the day in bed with Mark. I thought she was going to just jump on Alex right there in the clinic when he stripped down to his undershirt. Ha! And clearly Alex shares the same thoughts. It’s only a matter of time. Once again, I have to ask, is Mark ever going to be more than a McManWhore on the show? Does he have any redeeming qualities at all? He’s a real hero - “I’m not going in there.” Ridiculous.

And poor Derek tried to talk to Ellis and she wasn’t having it. But he just batted those eyelashes and went into surgery to try and save a life.

Christina said yes to Burke. Their little victory dance was very cute. Will we see a wedding this season or not?

Thoughts?

Valentine’s Day Cards

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

So Target is selling Grey’s Anatomy Valentine’s Day cards. They’ve also got Desperate Housewives ones, too. Apparently the cards are pretty lame and that’s disappointing. There is SO much good material. Even just “Have a Happy Valentine’s Day” on the front with “Seriously” on the inside would suffice. Oh well, next time I head to Target I’ll check them out for the fun of it. New episode tonight - yea!
