See, this is what I was afraid of
Wednesday, February 28th, 2007We haven’t discussed the fact that the entire cast of Grey’s Anatomy is in the middle of contract negotiations with ABC. This kind of thing happens all the time and usually we don’t hear a peep about it. The bottom line is, everyone wants more money just like you and I want more money when we have our reviews each year. It doesn’t make us greedy, it’s just a fact of life. This cast isn’t tight like the cast of Friends and they are all negotiating separately. Now TV Guide is reporting that Katherine Heigl has left the talks because she is upset about the money she is being offered. This is what I was talking about the other day when I said the show was so huge right now that everyone is looking with a critical eye at every single bit of news that breaks about the show or its stars. I don’t think badly of Katie and I don’t blame her for wanting to be treated equally. I’d say the same thing if it was any of the other cast members, too. (Well, except maybe Isaiah Washington, as much as I enjoy Preston Burke, I’m still shocked they didn’t fire him). Anyway, here’s what TV Guide has to say:
Katherine Heigl has dropped out of contract talks with Grey’s Anatomy, due to matters of dollars and cents, People is reporting. “Katie is disappointed and hurt that Touchstone doesn’t value her as much as her other costars, especially Sandra Oh and Isaiah Washington,” says a source who apparently didn’t get the memo that Touchstone changed its name to ABC Television Studio about two weeks ago.
Heigl, if you think way, way back to the pre-Anna Nicole/Bald Britney era, was perhaps the most vocal of T.R. Knight’s cast mates in publicly expressing disapproval with Washington’s gay slur.

I’m sure this will all work out just fine. It typically does. My guess is Katie is still pissed about the whole Isaiah thing and how it was handled since she and TR Knight are very close off the set. Hopefully we’ll hear this has been resolved soon.
