Spoilers, people

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Ok, ready? These are from Kristin at E! Really stop looking right now, if you don’t want to know…

From Israel: Is anyone on Grey’s actually getting married?
Yes. And much sooner than you think! What did Vince Vaughn say again in that cult movie of his?

From Laura: Holy crazy Grey’s cliffhanger! That was amazing. Dual proposal? Will Cristina say yes? What about Callie?
Let’s just say that, for once, there will be some happy news circling around Burke and Cristina.

From Valerie: Hi, Kristin! Would you be a sweetheart and answer me this? Is the chief going to leave Seattle Grace, and is the actor leaving Grey’s? I know not many people pay attention to him, but I looove the chief and will be heartbroken if he leaves.
Okay, you guys, I talked to James Pickens at the SAG Awards, and I have to tell you, he scared the heck out of me. Maybe it’s because he’s such a good actor, but the words “You’ll have to wait and see…” have never sounded so ominous. Here’s a snippet of our convo
Kristin Veitch: The chief’s wife has run off with another man! Are you gonna be hooking up with Meredith Grey’s mama instead?
James Pickens: You’ll just have to wait and see, won’t you? [Between you and me, if looks could talk, the one on his face was saying, Ellis and Richard are so doing the horizontal mambo very soon.]
K.V.: The show is great, and you’re such a good part of it. You’re not leaving just because the chief is retiring—
J.P.: You’ll have to wait and see.
K.V.: Don’t say that! No, seriously! [At this point, I’m actually begging him to allay my fears—just the teensiest smidge.]
J.P.: You’ll have to wait and see.

(Gasp, rinse and repeat the last two lines four to five times for the gist of our interaction.)

From Ned: What’s up with those wack-ass Grey’s Anatomy teases for upcoming episodes? It looks crazy! Is there a biohazard or something?
Yes, bloody hell! How crazy was that promo? From what I’ve heard, it’s a bloody good episode. You’re going to bloody freak! And yes, there is something bloody poisonous, and it may have to do with a bloody cancer patient on chemo—and it forces the doctors into sort of a sick game of bloody musical chairs. (Could I beat you over the head with the “bloody” hints any more obviously? Ha!)

From Jackie: Are Mer and Der going to break up? We’re hearing rumors of this argument. Is that the “one thing we thought Grey’s Anatomy would never do”?
That is not what I was talking about, no. (Isn’t it sort of expected that they’ll break up at some point in the next umpteen seasons?)

So, it sounds like Burke and Christina are getting married? She lets him win one fight and he proposes. Who would’ve thought they’d actually go through with it?? (And I know, this info may not be correct, but Kristin is very rarely wrong).

All you George fans

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Breathe, just breathe. It was just a rumor and the good news is, it was apparently a false one. TR Knight is not leaving the show. His publicist is working over time to get the word out that the rumor was false. So long live George! Meanwhile, TR’s BFF, Katherine Heigl was quoted backstage at the SAG Awards saying, “As far as we know, he’s (Isaiah Washington) seeking treatment right now to help with some of his issues. We don’t know when he’ll be back, or for how long, or what that entails.” When asked how the controversy has affected the show, Heigel replied, “There’s a lot of confusion, it’s stressful.” And during her acceptance speech, Chandra Wilson thanked “those 10 sitting right there at that table and the one in rehab.” HA! I love her.

I just love these two as BFFs, both on and offscreen.

Is TR Knight leaving?

Monday, January 29th, 2007

How about this for an interesting rumor?? Word is spreading that in light of the scandal at Grey’s that TR Knight will be leaving. Like his character or not (and I happen to like him), I think this would be a huge shame if he choses to leave. I won’t get into all the nasty rumors, but check them out if you like.

Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Ok, who didn’t see that one coming? As soon as Bailey said she wanted to open a free clinic, I knew Izzie would use the money for that. And three cheers for the return of Bailey! Or as Derek said, “The Nazi’s back.” I’m glad to see she’s getting back to a front and center story - I’ve missed her. Elsewhere the big 4 - Addison, Derek, Mark and Burke all tried to get the Chief to hear their reasons why they should take over for him after his retirement. He’s not having it. In fact, it seems he thinks the position should be Bailey’s in a year or two. And I’m with Adele - that was MONTHS ago when she said she had no more time to wait. Did he really think she would be sitting there at home hoping for him to retire? Bet the retirement is off, now, don’t you think?

I don’t usually talk about patient plotlines on here much, but I was really moved by Jillie and Rachel and their story. What an unusual twist for them to be Amish (or I guess former Amish). It was nice to see a true best friend story play out like it would in real life. And the girl playing Rachel was Beth on American Dreams if you were curious. (Geez, I loved that show, still sad it is gone).

So we got a little preview of Addisex last week, then nothing this week. It’s just a matter of time, folks. Like my pal Liesa said, he’s just letting her off the hook. But we all know she doesn’t want to be let off the hook. (Side note, when they were in the call room together I thought about that scene last year with Izzie and Alex where she said, “Literally take off your pants” Too funny).

What else? Oh Derek and Meredith fought and made up. I did think it was a sweet moment when he said, “I’ll always show up.” And Burke and Christina didn’t speak until the end. She finally broke down and told him that she was in it for the long haul so he could win that round. Burke responded by proposing.

I found that to be anti-climatic and I don’t know why exactly.

George “the sex machine” O’Malley coped with his dad’s death the best way he could think of. And when Callie said no more he proposed. This didn’t really surprise me all that much. George has always been a big gesture guy.

So who will say yes? My money’s on Christina. I think Callie will say no, but who knows for sure. Will the Chief recind his retirement notice? Will Izzie quit working as a surgical intern to work at the free clinic? Could Mark get more annoying?

Talk to me peeps–

Scoop

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

From our friend Kristin at E!

From Marsha: On Grey’s Anatomy, are Meredith and Derek getting engaged?
No. But someone is.

From April: Kristin, one word: Addisex…it’s a f*&#ing force of nature.
I know! And you haven’t seen s&*# yet!

From Lola: Are George and Callie definitely back together?
They are going to be together in the Biblical sense—over and over again—as he mourns his father. By the way, was that not the most heartbreaking episode ever? That was the death I was talking about when I said it would break your heart. I was hyperventilating! Originally, George’s father’s death was supposed to be one episode, but it was so good, they pulled it into two.

Is this the end?

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

According to E!, Isaiah Washington has entered some sort of treatment facility for counseling for his “behavior issues.” Sources says he did this because he was desperate to keep his job. Shonda Rhimes finally issued a statement saying:

I speak for all the executive producers here at Grey’s Anatomy when I say that Isaiah Washington’s use of such a disturbing word was a shocking and dismaying event that insulted not only gays and lesbians everywhere but anyone who has ever struggled for respect in a world that is not always accepting of difference.

“We’ve been working within the Grey’s family as well as with ABC and Touchstone Television to address the issue in a way that underscores the gravity of the situation while giving us all a foundation for healing. We applaud and encourage Isaiah’s realization that he needs help and his subsequent choice to seek immediate treatment for his behavioral issues.

“We appreciate the support the fans have always given our show, particularly during this stressful time. Creatively, we continue to strive to make the best television we can with the hope that our show reflects the talent, hard work and professionalism of our cast and crew. ”

And Isaiah issued a statement, too:

“With the support of my family and friends, I have begun counseling. I regard this as a necessary step toward understanding why I did what I did and making sure it never happens again. I appreciate the fact that I have been given this opportunity, and I remain committed to transforming my negative actions into positive results, personally and professionally.”

Meanwhile, there are 20,000 signatures on an online petition to have him fired. Looks like he’s staying put folks. Maybe this will be the end of the story. We shall see.

More saga updates

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Thanks to our friend Winnie over at Watching the View for letting us know that Justin Chambers was on The View and discussed the ongoing controversy. Check out Winnie’s recap of that show here.

In other news, Isaiah Washington has met with gay rights activists. Anyway, whatever. He’s trying to squirm his way out of it and if you’re so inclined to read more, please do so here.

And in more McDumbAss news, The New York Times is reporting that Isaiah is about to be up out, y’all. It appears his remarks violate ABC’s antidiscrimination policy. This is an easy out for them and I hope they take it. More from the Times.

Believe it or not, I’ve really held my tongue when it comes to this whole thing, (other than saying he should be fired). So this is my final opinion, like it or not. Fire him! Because to NOT fire him would be a double standard. What if Sandra Oh had used an ETHNIC slur to Sara Ramirez or Isaiah? Do you think for one second they would tolerate that? We wouldn’t still be talking about that weeks later. Dr. Yang would have been hit by a McBus in the next episode. It would already be over with, end of story, finished, done, finito. She would have been fired on the mother frakking spot right after it happened. So what is the difference here? So do it already. You really have no freaking choice, ABC. Rip the band-aid off the sucker and let’s move the freak on.

Enough of this nonsense. I personally would rather talk about how hot Justin is, wouldn’t you?

There really are entirely too many days between episodes. Don’t you agree? I’m looking forward to this week’s episode because it looks to be a bit lighter than the past two. For all you Addisex fans, here’s something to hold you over for a few more days. (youtube is awesome).

GLAAD Media Awards

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

I think even Alanis Morrisette would agree that this is in fact, ironic. GLAAD announced Sunday that Grey’s Anatomy is nominated for 8 of their Media awards, the most of any show. The awards “recognize and honor mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender … community and the issues that affect their lives.” Congrats to Grey’s. Here’s hoping for a better week, don’t you think?

Oh and Isaiah Washington fired his publicist. As if that will help.

Another chapter in the saga

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Ok, I just wanted to keep you all updated on the whole Isaiah/TR drama. Here’s the lastest:

1) ABC issued a statement about the situation: “We are greatly dismayed that Mr. Washington chose to use such inappropriate language at the Golden Globes, language that he himself deemed `unfortunate’ in his previous public apology. His actions are unacceptable and are being addressed.”

2) GLAAD demands an apology

3) Isaiah apologizes: “I apologize to T.R., my colleagues, the fans of the show and especially the lesbian and gay community for using a word that is unacceptable in any context or circumstance. I marred what should have been a perfect night for everyone who works on `Grey’s Anatomy.’ I can neither defend nor explain my behavior. I can also no longer deny to myself that there are issues I obviously need to examine within my own soul, and I’ve asked for help. I know the power of words, especially those that demean. I realize that by using one filled with disrespect I have hurt more than T.R. and my colleagues. With one word, I’ve hurt everyone who has struggled for the respect so many of us take for granted. I welcome the chance to meet with leaders of the gay and lesbian community to apologize in person and to talk about what I can do to heal the wounds I’ve opened.

T.R.’s courage throughout this entire episode speaks to his tremendous character. I hold his talent, and T.R. as a person, in high esteem. I know a mere apology will not end this, and I intend to let my future actions prove my sincerity.”

4) GLAAD responds, asking for a meeting with Isaiah and Isaiah agrees, saying “he welcomes the chance to meet with gay and lesbian community leaders “to apologize in person and to talk about what I can do to heal the wounds I’ve opened.”

5) Are they going to fire this sucker or what?

The debut of Addisex

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Oh come on, that is a fantastic couple name for Addison/Alex don’t you think? And no, I can’t take credit for it. So let’s recap, shall we?

Mr. O’Malley wasn’t getting any better. George figured out that the Chief and Bailey had proceeded with the surgery even though they shouldn’t have. Angry, he confronted them and cried as he realized his dad had insisted they do the surgery. (Um, hello, Emmy’s, meet TR Knight). George’s family had to decide whether or not to take his dad off the ventilator and they did. What a sad scene that was. Come to think of it, the whole show was sad last night.

Elsewhere, Izzie donated the money for the girl to have the spine surgery. Bailey asked her if she paid the money to scrub in. When Izzie said no, she paid the money to help another human being, Bailey told her she must decide if she was a surgeon or a person who wants to help and gets emotionally involved. After seeing George go through so much pain in losing his dad, she told Bailey she was both and that she wouldn’t apologize for it. I loved that. I also love that we are seeing some similarities between Bailey and Izzie. The “Nazi” and Izzie are both softies. It’s just that Izzie shows it and Bailey most often does not. I needed a minute, too, after Bailey performed that procedure on Mr. O’Malley. I think everyone watching needed a breath.

Meredith is still struggling with daddy issues. She did ask Thatcher why he left. He stuttered something about Ellis telling him not to call, etc. It wasn’t much of an explanation, but I guess it was better than nothing. Meredith asked him if he snored and he said yes. He told her to get wax ear plugs and she gave some to Derek.

Burke and Christina continued their stupid silence. After learning of Mr. O’Malley’s death, Burke decided to give in and he said he had not had any tremors at all.

Of course the big news was that Addison was pregnant 8 months ago with Mark’s child and she had an abortion. He marked the date on the calendar and had gone out and bought the child a Yankees outfit. Mark told Addison he would have been a great father and asked her why she didn’t want a child. She tearfully told him she wanted Derek at the time and she did not want a child with him. He was still cheating on her even after he learned she was pregnant. Wow. The weight of it all was eating Addison and Mark alive throughout the episode. Mark asked Callie if she thought he would have been a good father. He finally admitted he would have been terrible. And then the big moment - despite apologizing to Alex about the near kiss, at the end, in the bar, she kissed him.

So, now starts the era of Addisex. Yea! Looks like Callie and George are getting back together. (But as my friend Lauren pointed out, they totally can’t get married because she would be “Callie O’Malley” HA!). Izzie is finally ready to be a surgeon again and it looks like she is going to use that money for wonderful things. Burke and Christina look to be getting back on track. And now that the snoring issue is resolved (sort of) maybe we’ll get to see MerDer talking about something else. And what’s to become of Mark? Will he continue to be a one note, villian, or will we start to see another side of him like we have Alex and Addison?

Let’s bring some happy back

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

What a week! So much negativity and all. I’m ready for some fun back here, aren’t you? So how about some super cute pictures of Patrick Dempsey with his daughter, Tallulah? We’ve talked on here before about Patrick’s interviews about his dyslexia. He says reading to his daughter helps him with that issue. One new quote that I did find interesting was,

“What I don’t like about Grey’s Anatomy is they never give you the script until the last minute. I fight those anxieties every time I sit down for a table read-through. So I’m not completely over it.

TR Knight speaks

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

I know y’all are probably about as tired of all this crap as I am, but I wanted to let you know in case you haven’t heard, that TR Knight will be on Ellen today. In his interview, (his only one since the October drama), he said that Isaiah Washington referred to him a f—-t in a voice loud enough for the cast and crew to hear. So Washington flat out lied at the Globes. I’ve seen video of Isaiah’s little remark and Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane were horrified - you can just tell. Anyway, my opinion? Fire his sorry, no good, bad behaving ass. The show will be better off without him. Jump over to TV Guide to read more.

Shut up, Isaiah Washington - Seriously, shut up

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

Well, well, well. If it doesn’t just keep getting worse and worse for Mr. Washington. Just when it seemed that the only drama happening on Grey’s was on our televisions each week, Isaiah opens his big, ugly mouth and brings it all back out again. To recap, Isaiah and Patrick Dempsey had an altercation on the set a few months ago. Reportedly, Isaiah called TR Knight a “f—-t” and Patrick defended TR and a mini brawl ensued. As a result, TR came out to the world as a gay man. So it all seemed to be over.

But on the red carpet for the Golden Globes, Isaiah joked about the incident saying, “I love gay. I wanted to be gay. Please let me be gay.” And after celebrating a big win at the Golden Globes, backstage in the press room, a reporter asked if “TR and Isaiah have moved on” and Isaiah responded with, “I did not call T.R. a f—-t. Never happened.” He then told Access Hollywood “there is no way I could do anything so vile.” And according to TV Guide:

Isaiah Washington, who backstage at the Golden Globes made some sort of bid to set the record straight about what he did or did not call T.R. Knight during the infamous October on-set fracas, may have only dug himself in deeper — at the very least with another Grey’s Anatomy cast mate, Katherine Heigl. Speaking to Access Hollywood after his latest spiel, Washington reiterated, “There is no way I could do anything so vile” as calling another person the F-word.

Katherine Heigl, though, says Washington’s revisiting of the incident — complete with uttering the epithet — hurt Knight, who was also in the press room at the time. “I’m going to be really honest right now. [Isaiah] needs to just not speak in public. Period,” the actress tells Access Hollywood in an interview. “That did not need to be said, I’m not OK with it. Drawing attention to it and saying the word again is just unnecessary.”

Could this guy just shut up?? I hate the fact that he took attention away from their happiness over their win and brought this back up. And it was unacceptable that he used the word again. I’m so tired of this story. This will only cause the negative press to pick back up. Shonda Rhimes, pay attention, honey, you’ve got a bad apple in the bunch. Oh and notice that Katherine said that Isaiah said the word AGAIN, meaning, he did say it before, denial or not. You can check out Katherine’s interview with Access Hollywood here. You tell ‘em, girl. This is out of control ridiculous.
